Lighterman Records
« on: Thursday 09 August 12 11:57 BST (UK) »
Hi all
I have done a bit of reading on various posts and websites about records for Ligtherman but still not really any the wiser as to where to start.

John Henry RAYSON born 1854

1871 census shows him as an Apprentice Lighterman
1881 Lighterman
1901 Barge Lighterman (own account)

Any pointers on where to start to find employment records etc would be appreciated

Thanks

Have you looked on FindMyPast? There are some lighterman records there . You can find when they were taken on as apprentices and when they were discharged with their " ticket"
