Barlow - Liverpool / Wales
« on: Thursday 16 August 12 08:25 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Looking for any information relating to the Barlow family:

John Marshall Barlow b 1844 m to Mary Ann Seddon
Charles Ellis Barlow 1881 m Esther Leckie 1882. The family were large, located in Liverpool and I have traced them to Abenbury, Wales.

Would be grateful for any insight on why they moved to Liverpool. The Welsh family business was dissolved (forge - iron/bricks?), but I suspect that there may still be a Barlow connection up to modern day.

Would also be keen to hear of any connection to the Boer / Crimean  & WW1. It would be unlikely that the family would not have served in at least one of these conflicts and this info would confirm family stories.

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Looking for any information relating to the Barlow family:

Thomas Barlow b 1811 m to Sarah Marshall
John Marshall Barlow b 1844 m to Mary Ann Seddon
Charles Ellis Barlow 1881 m Esther Leckie 1882. The family were large, located in Liverpool and I have traced them to Abenbury, Wales.

Would be grateful for any insight on why they moved to Liverpool. The Welsh family business was dissolved (forge - iron/bricks?), but I suspect that there may still be a Barlow connection up to modern day.

In addition, Marshall is used for the next generation as a middle name, skips a generation, then reappears. Would this indicate someone missing from the tree? How would I establish that?

Sarah Marshall - is she connected to the Forge in Abenbury?

Thanks again.
Would also be keen to hear of any connection to the Boer / Crimean  & WW1. It would be unlikely that the family would not have served in at least one of these conflicts and this info would confirm family stories.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this. You mention 'different church'. Why would this be? I'm a novice with these things, all help gratefully received!
