Hi, this is just a guess but husbandry is defined as:

The act or practice of cultivating crops and breeding and raising livestock; agriculture.
The application of scientific principles to agriculture, especially to animal breeding.

So I guess a husbandsman might be one who carries out this work.

Granger is right - he would have been responsible for looking after any animals on the farm, mainly applies to Cattle.

Also a term for a Tenant Farmer.
