Isabella Elizabeth Pines (b1871)
« on: Sunday 19 August 12 22:06 BST (UK) »
I am researching the above person and am unable to find her on the 1881 census with her father, James, & siblings Louisa and Charles in Poplar.
Isabella was working as a ward-maid at St Johns Hospital, Twickenham in 1891 but does not appear before this date.

Also looking for information on her parents and siblings, I believe that as well as Louisa and Charles there may be another brother, William

Additional info for tracing only

Father James is on the 1881 with Louisa 6 and Charles 4 both b Limehouse so Isabella was probably with relatives

1891 shows her birthplace as Poplar

1871 census has a James and Isabella Pines, living in Poplar?

Best way forwards is to buy the birth certificate for Isabella, which will give you her mother's name?

Hi Kevin

I think Elkette is just looking for Isabella in 1881 as she is not with her father James and 2 siblings.

Isabella was born after the 1871 census

Births June qtr 1871

Carole,

I mentioned the family as possible parents for Isabella! ;D

Daughters are often named after mothers, and the father (James) fits, as does the death of Isabella senior.
And they are in the right part of London?

I'm probably wrong?! ???

Hi

No - you are not wrong - I also had them as her parents and it fits James profile in 1881

Mystery is Isabella in 1881.    Have to assume that Elkette has her birth cert confirming her parents were James & Isabella??

If not - she may belong to an entirely different family

Hi guys,

I do not have a birth certificate for Isabella Elizabeth PINES yet but I do know that she was born in the 2nd quarter of 1871 and have a birth record for her. Her birth surname was recorded as PINE rather than PINES, could this be why I am struggling to find her with her siblings and father?

I also have a marriage certificate for her and George LELLIOTT which sates her farther's name as James Thomas PINES

James Pines married Isabella Halliday in 1860 - no middle name of Thomas for James

1881 shows James was b 1843 Kingston Surrey but 1871 shows 1838 Twickenham.  Given the marriage year plus Isabella was b 1839 - I think 1838 is the likeliest

I can't find anything with a middle name of Thomas

The parents tick all the boxes except for James middle name and another sibling called William

I would invest in a copy of the 1871 birth cert just to be 100% certain

Kerry, this is a long shot. I can see that this thread is already several years old but I stumbled across it this afternoon as I was also looking for information on the Pines family. Isabella is the mother of my great-grandfather. I am wondering if you found anything further and, if by chance, you are looking because you're related to her somehow?
