LYONS/DALRYMPLE Families
« on: Wednesday 22 August 12 06:07 BST (UK) »
Hi - I have found a marriage between Isabella Dalrymple and John Lyons at Port Glasgow, Renfrew on 15/12/1848. I am trying to find if there is a connection between them and Eleanor Lyons who married Samuel McBrae. I am hoping that they were her parents but have not been able to find a birth record for Eleanor. Can anyone help? :( Thanks, Maxell

Hi Maxell

What dates do you have for Eleanor Lyons who married Samuel McBrae? I saw something online on a member family tree that made me thing their marriage may have been much earlier that 1848 when you have the other couple getting married in Port Glasgow.

The online trees are all for Samuel and Eleanor's daughter Jane born c. 1805, in Donegal Ireland. She went on to marry a James Thorpe and died in 1877 in Maitland, New South Wales?

Hi Monica - you are correct. I must be having a blonde or senior moment!! I would guess that Eleanor was born about 1800, give or take a couple of years. I think I got so excited to find a Lyons/Dalrymple connection AND in Renfrew that the date totally slipped by me. Family legend has that Jane's mother or grandmother was a Dalrymple and I was searching to prove or disprove the legend.
Thanks for pointing out my oversite - I guess it is back to the records for me.  :) Maxell
