He is not listed as a WW1 casualty on www.cwgc.org or on the Australian equivalent so presume he died of natural causes

Precisely what info are you looking for about him as you have his birth and family details and now his death in Melbourne

All that remains is whether he married, when he emigrated, did he have children, how did he die

Re: marriage

He did indeed marry Rose Alice Thomas aged 24  on 17.2.1912 at the parish church Turnham Green

His address was 41 Arlington Gdns Chiswick and his father was Frederick John

Both John & Frederick are shown as joiners

The father of Rose is shown as Robert Thomas deceased - occ plasterer

Witnesses Emma Elizabeth Dowling and Albert Edward Thomas

Hi John,
Did you know that you can download an image of John Henry Dowling's death certificate - can pay $20 by credit card online and see image immediately.   The death cert image should tell you cause of death and whether there were any children, their names and ages.

https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=purchaseImage

You type Dowling for family name and click death
You give the registration number 7467 (as given by Merlin) and the year 1914.
Then just give your details.

It's fairly easy to do.  :)

regards,
   Ros

Yes John you can save the image to your pc and you can print it.

It is a .pdf file when you open it.

I'm of a similar age  ;D and I've managed it several times without any problems.

From memory, after you have paid the money it gives you a ICRN (Image Collection reference number) write this down.
Next to the ICRN is a link to download your image.  When you click on the link you can see the image on screen.  If you right-click on image you can then choose to save as specified-name or print. Do both

Write down the ICRN because you have 30 days to download it and if you run into any problems you can try again.  You can shout to us for help or ring the site's international help line.

regards,
   Ros

Ah Here's the Manual  ;D
