Whitmore/Whittemore of Hitchin
« on: Friday 24 August 12 17:02 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information on the Whittemore family of Hitchin - in particular, Francis Whitmore born 1623-1625. There are a few different lineages for him online but with no documentation. The closest thing I could find is a Francis Whitmore, son of Nicholas Whitmore, baptized in 1629 according to an extract from the church book of Hitchin. He came to America and settled in Massachusetts where he signed an affadavit stating he was born in 1625 - unfortunately he didn't say "where" in England he was born.
Does anyone have any suggestions where I could look for documentation on this family?
Thanks!
