Hello
My great grandmother was Agnes Mackay (married Robert Davidson) died 17 5 1960 - her parents were Archibald Mackay & Margaret Beveridge. I think she was born in Kelty.
Curious to know if they originally came from the Highlands but have only been able to trace her parents.
Warmly & Sincerely

Hi ,

Looks like the 1881 Census has her birthplace as Townhill , which is to the North of Dumfermline
Father Archibald gives birthplace as Denny Stirling(born c1835)

1841 Census transcription on the freeCEN website has a MCKAY family , with ARCHBALD age 6 , in
Denny Stirling
No relationships are given but it looks like the parents are Hugh and Mary Mckay

Thanks very much for your help - I will investigate further - I am originally from the general area of Dunfermline - the link gave me a little more info than I already had and perhaps with Hugh Mackay I might get a bit further back.
Warmly & Sincerely
