COMPLETED Long Crendon Parish Registers - ING
« on: Wednesday 19 September 12 04:49 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Could someone please check if the following baptism is in the Long Crendon PRs:-

16 Aug 1685 John son of Mark & Ann Ing.

I purchased a copy of the Long Crendon PR Transcripts from Bucks FHS and the baptism isn't on there, I sourced this baptism from Ancestry.com.

Before someone tells me of the dangers of material from Ancestry, I am aware of it  ;D

Regards.

To support the alternative dates given on Anc* trees the record is on familysearch

John Ing
baptism 16th August 1685
Long Crendon, Buckingham
father Mark Ing
mother Ann
batch I04450-6
source film number 1999420
ref number - Item 1

On the LDS library catalogue it gives the source of this record as Long Crendon Bishops transcripts.   You can see the source yourself by selecting film/fiche search on here https://familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlc/library_fhlc_main.asp  and inserting the film number.

Hi Rosie,

Thanks for that info.

Had problems on Family Search accessing the record for John Ing, finally managed to get it to come up by obtaining the batch number C0109721 and using that.

I'll have to contact Bucks FHS and let them know they missed an entry, bit of a worry that, wonder if they have missed others.

If anyone is going to be accessing the PRs anytime I'd be grateful to have the entry confirmed just in case Family Search have the name wrongly transcribed into their database.

Hi bucksboy,

Many thanks for that find, I've had a look at it, I would have dismissed Ingrum as a variant of Ingram.

So I wonder who got the surname wrong, the person who recorded it in the original PRs or Bucks FHS  ???

Regards.

I think BucksFHS will need to check it out and see. ;)

I've seen a few original Bucks films myself, and it's quite understandable that there are errors.    Sometimes they look like spiders have stepped in ink, and wandered over the pages. ;D

Hi bucksboy,

I'll get in touch with the Bucks FHS.

There's some in Essex that look the way you described, one that sticks in my mind is the Coggeshall Essex Congregational Register, it also comes with badly placed inkblots and atrocious spelling.

Hi,

I contacted the Bucks FHS regarding the John Ingrum baptised 16 Aug 1685 Long Crendon entry on their Long Crendon CD, here is their very quick response.

"Yes we have checked the fiche of the registers and you are correct the entry should be ING.  Thank you for pointing out this error which we will correct in our database".

Thanks again Bucks Boy for bringing the error to my notice, nice to get that sorted.

Just for the record the Ing line is not mine, I'm researching the tree of my late wife, mine are about 95% Essex, none (so far) in Bucks.

Regards.

That's got ING sorted then. ;)

I won't hold being 95% Essex against you. ;D

I have ING from Bucks in my tree, but can't think whereabouts at the moment, but pretty close to yours. ::)
