Desperately trying to find what happened to my Grandmother Doris May ALDEN
Born in Norwich, Norfolk towards the end of 1909, daughter to Donald Peter & Maud Beatrice FINCH
Married William James ALDEN in 1928 - Mother to Peter, Barbara, Beryl and Anthony
Left the family home some time around the start of the war - believed to have moved from Norwich to Gt Yarmouth

i have come across something odd while looking through the deaths

doris  alden  born 12 jan 1909   died  jan 1988 norwich vol 10 page 1646

doris may finch  born 7 may 1903 died 2ndQ 1975 norwich
VOL10 1646     Both born norwich

but what i find odd is the same vol and page number for both?

Thanks for help - I had found both of these but dates didn't tie in quite as close as I would have liked.

The record for Doris Alden b.1909 I've found returns same volume (10) but Pg. 1853.  I think I'll have to try and find any death notices in the local Norwich/Norfolk press

Do you have Doris May Finch's birth certificate?  I know the records show the birth was registered in Oct-Dec 1909, but she might been born earlier in the year.

Why does the family think she moved near to Gt Yarmouth?  If she left home, presumably leaving her husband and young children, she could have gone anywhere.

I see her husband died in 1976, was it one of the children who notified his death?

ps.  Doris is on the 1911 census with her parents with 2 brothers and 2 sisters.  Her age was given as 1, and calculated as 1910 but that date is not particularly accurate as, of course, she could have been almost 2.

Another thought, Doris was only 19 when she married and still young at the start of WW2.  Is it possible that met up with the GIs who were in Norfolk during the war.  It's always possible that she passed herself off as a single girl and went to USA after the war.
