COMPLETED -Fersfield - BATLEY
« on: Monday 24 September 12 09:04 BST (UK) »
I would like to request a lookup for the death record of my ancestor Thomas Batley, who lived in Fersfield.

He was married to a Phebe Bobby (nee chilvers) in 1813 in St Andrew At Fersfield. He & Phebe had 3 children Elijah b 1815, Elias b 1817 & Eliza b 1819 (all born in Fersfield, my late grandmother had a genealogist  to research  these dates over 30 years ago!) Elias & family immigrated to Australia in 1852.

Phebe died in 1843 and her death cert states that she was a widow. I have found Phebe to be living with Elias in Fersfield in the 1841 census but there is no Thomas. This narrows his death date down to between 1819 & 1841.

I think he most probably died before 1837 as I have checked all the Thomas Batley's in the "Guiltcross" area who died after 1837 however they are not my Thomas.

If any one is able to help me out or point me in the right direction that would be great.

Thanks
Rose - Australia

Hello Rose,

Family Search has some Bishop's Transcripts online for Fersfield, and this looks like the entry for Thomas Batley's (spelled Battley) burial, in 1820, aged 55  -
