Oxrough Records

Hi Guys
I have posted on another board with amazing results.. Now I thought I would ask you guys as the search moves over to Norfolk.
Ok one of the results being

John Oxbrough recorded 27.3.1807 St Leonard Munford, although many different versions of the surname, Parents being Henry & Susan Oxborow(another spelling)

Could you guys who may have microfiches assist with me tracing further back or expand on some of the information from Rutland board, as we have a telescope from 1800s with Oxbrough, Holywell, inscribed on the leather case and we were told he was obviously a Seafarer, however we only know of Gamekeepers & Blacksmiths.
Could anybody help, I understand the information is a little sketchy.

Many thanks

Daz

Hi Daz,

Norfolk is very well covered on the Family Search site - many parishes have images of the registers online and free to view.

This looks like your John Oxborow's baptism, at Mundford, 1807 as you say, son of Henry Oxborow of Lynford and Susan his wife.  Also gives her maiden name, and it looks like Betts.

Hello again,

Using Freereg to search, found a marriage for Henry Oxborough and Susan Betts at Cranwich in 1802.
Here it is on the Cranwich marriage register - only a couple of miles from Mundford.

Hello Daz,

You're welcome.

These records aren't from Ancestry though .... they're on the Family Search website, and they're free!

Here's the first page showing all the parishes in Norfolk that have images online.
You can click on whichever you want to look at, and it will give you a range of dates etc.

Hope this helps.
