Topic and reply from Isobelruss missing, help please
« on: Saturday 06 October 12 20:59 BST (UK) »
Last night I put a request for a lookup on FindMyPast of an apprenticeship document for Robert Smith 1830 +/-5 years in Spalding. Today I was emailed that Isobelruss had put a reply on the board.
When I opened all  I get is....

An Error Has Occurred!
The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.

I've tried alll the ways I can think of to find it but am coming up with the same message all the time, is there a problem please???

Hi ladybird,

I'm sorry, but it appears to have been removed.  This is probably because it specifically asked for a look-up from FindMyPast, a subscription site.  Requests for look-ups from subscriptions site are not allowed on RootsChat since this contravenes the terms & conditions of membership of those sites.

From what I remember of last night's post, I don't think you were looking for a shoemaker, were you?
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

No my guy was a tailor all through the census. He ended up with a shop in Hull
Evidently not him then...drats, back to the drawing board  :)

I am not sure if this helps but one of my relatives was a tailor in Lincolnshire but I have not found an apprenticeship record. I think his father may have been a tailor and so learned from him.

In 1841, Robert was living in Alford where Rossiter Smith was a tailor.

Checking through the records, Rossiter had no son of that name but he had a sister, Mary born in 1790.

The only record that matches Roberts birth in Spilsby is Robert Brackenbury Smith born to Mary Smith, a spinster. Mary also had a daughter in 1818, Mary Brackenbury Smith. Perhaps Rossiter was Robert's uncle?

Unfortunately, Lincstothepast seems to be missing the marriage records of the period when Robert probably married.

Many thanks David
You've more or less worked Robert out the same as I have  ;D It would just have been nice to have his Appr. docs
He was married in Louth 1840 to Elizabeth Vinter under the name Edward. He gave his father's name as Robert Smith, tallow chandler, but I think he made have been invented  :-\
