Warberry House & Lodge Tunbridge Wells
« on: Friday 12 October 12 20:53 BST (UK) »
Local residents of T. Wells will no doubt have the answers to my questions. Im researching Warberry House in Bishop's Down Park, Tunbridge Wells which until about 1939 was a private residence. From 1945 to 1960 it was the Legat Ballet School.Does anyone know what the building was used for from 1939-1944? Was it put to military use for the war effort (a hospital, government office etc) or was it a private residence and if so who occupied it? Cant seem to find a directory listing for the place during those years!

Also does anyone who when Warberry House was demolished. A planning application of 1997 says the house was demolished "Many years ago". The planning application is described as pertaining to the SITE of "Warberry House and Lodge".A map shows at the intersection of Lake Road and Bishop's Down Park Road a large irregular shaped building (gone by 1997).Does anyone know what this building was and was that building called Warberry Lodge. I assume the reference to Warbery House refers to the house by that name that was located down near the lake and later demolished not the building at the corner of Lake Road and Bishop's Down. Was Warberry Lodge a seniors home?
