Baptism look up Ryan family.
« on: Friday 19 October 12 15:26 BST (UK) »
My ancestors the Ryan family lived in no 24 greens lane waterford urban 3.
The head of the family, James  Ryan was a widower in 1901 census.
He lived with his family Michael Joseph 1872 Mary Kate 1875 Margaret 1877.
Can anybody look up the baptism records, in order to find the name of their Mother

Many Thanks
                Paul.

Hi Paul,

familysearch has a lot of baptisms online for free but as I'm sure you are aware it's going to be difficult to work out the correct ones without more leads.

Have you any ideas as to what their mother's name might have been ?

The girls aren't with their father in 1911 - did they marry and stay in Ireland, or did they emmigrate..............any more clues you have may help to narrow down a search !

Tara

Is James their father?

There are zero matches coming up for baptism for any of those names with father James (using a free search on there).

hi Tara. the only information i have is on Mary Kate , she went to Dublin and married Richard Sullivan a draper  from waterford 1903.
Richard is on the 1901 census in Dublin  and with his wife Mary Kate on 1911 census, also with the family is her brother stephen age 40 in 1911 and from waterford.
i have no information on  the mother  and cant find Richard Sullivan family on the 1901 and 1911 census in waterford.

Okay I have been looking at baptisms on familysearch

And I am pretty sure the parents of your family are James Ryan and Catherine Murphy as there are baptisms to match all of the children. Only discrepancy is that Mary Kate (Catherine) Ryan was born 1873 not 1875. There are also a few more children:

Stephen Ryan born 1864
Honora Margaret Ryan born 1874

Hope that helps.

On family search you can cross reference to try and find the marriage in the civil registration indexes or you can do a free search on rootsireland and try and narrow it down to year now you have the names
Anderson & Marr - Midlothian & East Lothian
Bennett - Devonport
Catleugh & Shiells - East Lothian
Galvin, McLaren, Cullen & Dowling - Waterford, Ireland
Littlejohns - Plymouth & London
Mansfield - Benfleet & St Pancras

Hi Paul,

This is the marriage of Richard and Mary Kate

http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/20f79c0062919

and it confirms that Catherine Murphy is her mother's name

I'm pretty sure those records on FamilySearch are extracted civil births rather than baptisms, so certs should be available from the GRO which would probably add a few more details.
