Help in completing Profile

Dear Friends,

I am a new member and when I filled in my Profile by mistake I deleted the wording which was already in the Personal Text Box. This wording related to the information being Crown Copyright. I have seen the full wording on many Profiles. When I went to edit my Profile and tried to type the exact wording into the Personal Text box there was not enough room for all the wording and try as I might I could not find a way to make the wording fit.

Does any kind person know how to resolve this problem

Hi Fifth Wheel, welcome to RootsChat,

At one point I also encountered this problem. As you've discovered, the default information in the "Personal Text" box exceeds the maximum number of characters without any errors, but as soon as you start to change it you exceed the maximum. An administrator/moderator might be able to do it for you (though I would guess even they can't get do it without changing the forum software settings).

You could put the Crown Copyright statement in the "Research names or areas" part of your profile instead, which appears at the bottom of each of your posts.

Never noticed it before but yes you are right! How odd.

I've notified one of the moderators to pass this thread onto Tristan or whoever is looking after the general running of the website at the moment.
Please acknowledge when a restorer works on your photos, it can take hours for them to work their magic

Please scan at 300dpi minimum to help save the restorers eyesight.

Yes, the text is added automatically when you register, and that obviously doesn't look at the "maximal length".

I deliberately moved mine to the bottom of the page because it was too wide for the left hand side and made it look untidy (IMHO).
