clockmakers
« on: Saturday 20 October 12 17:01 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out about Thomas Tait who was a clockmaker in Belford and then Alnwick, both in Northumberland. Born in 1778 he disappears from trade directories after 1830 and I have not been able to track his children after that date either.

Can anyone suggest how I could find out more using clockmaking resources? Our church in Belford has a clock he made in 1812 and we want to commemorate this. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently had contact with a clock repairer who had a marvellous book with details of many early clockmakers.  Worth seeing if you can find it.   Otherwise I could could ask him and I am sure he would look for you.
