Marilyn, I'm not sure where you are so I apologise if I'm telling you what you may already know.  Australian certificates usually have very good information on them regarding parents, place of birth etc.  As your family records seem to be in NSW you can order certificates from the NSW BMD site
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/searchHistoricalRecords.htm

You can also ask a transcription agent for the information which they will email to you - their services are quicker and cheaper than the direct order.  There are 3 approved agents who are on the NSW web-site

http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/howToTraceYouFamTree.htm#TranscriptionAgent

Marriage certificates are usually the most reliable for information as the informants are the couple themselves.

Thanks Judb.  Trying to save alittle on the expenses - hoping someone may have more information.  I'll try for the transcription agent.   Thanks again.

NSW ER 1913 MOSMAN, polling at Mosman
Albert Edward LEIDICH, 19 Bardwell Road, labourer
Ernest Arthur LEIDICH, 19 Bardwell Road, constable
Mary LEIDICH, 19 Bardwell Road, dd
Mary VAUGHAN, 19 Bardwell Road, dd

Of course, Mary VAUGHAN could be sister, cousin, aunt, or mum or other relative for Mary Leidich.

::) Most likely the following is simply a series of  co-incidences, but there’s

Patrick VAUGHAN born 1843, Ireland, appointed a Policeman in NSW 4 July 1865.
Alfred Edward VAUGHAN born 1869, NSW, appointed a Policeman 17 Feb 1898
Ernest Arthur LEIDICH, born 1869 NSW, was appointed a Policemen 1 Feb 1899.

:) Judith mentioned earlier the transcription of the 1903 mc should have the answers to help you with your Mary’s ancestors.  The pennies spend on it will surely save you pounds and pounds of speculations.   :)

Thank you Judith.   I'm pretty sure Alfred was a policeman and I know Ernest Arthur was.

I will spend the pennies.

:)
