No - on the wrong track there.
There is not a previous marriage - she marries James Miller in 1849 as you had noted. But on the page there are brides called Frnces Larkin and Frances Hearn. So James Miller married Frances Hearn, not Frances Larkin.

From free bmd

Marriage Jul/Aug/Sep 1849
Maidstone reg district ref 5 385

James Miller / one of brides is Frances Hearn.

Presumably you didn't have a marriage cert for miller/larkin!

Great detective work Liz it all looks really good and fits together. The OP really needs to get the marriage cert I think to confirm the maiden name of Frances.

Some Kent parishes have OPCs (online parish clerk), Staplehurst, shown as Frances' pob  being one of them. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~staplehurst/index.htm

There are these baptisms listed with parents Richard & Ann which are of interest

1822, 22  Dec,  Charles Berry Hearn
1824, 25  Apr,  George Hearn
1825, 20  Nov,  Richard Hearn
1827, 12  Aug,  Frances Ann Hearn
1831, 10  Jun,  James Hearne

The marriage cert would also provide the name of James' father so the Miller line can be looked at.

Enjoyed doing it!

And if the OP wants to go further back there is the hint that Ann Hearn may (unless there are remarriages involved, of course) be nee Tye with a sister Jemima!

For example I have found this marriage
12th March 1822
Barming, Kent
Richard Hearn / Ann Tye
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Cazo, I see you were online earlier today. Hopefully you saw all this and it has been some help.

Can you confirm if you have actually got James Miller's marriage cert to Frances or not?

If it helps, the marriage appears to have been at Holy Trinity Maidstone or at least that is (as far as I am aware) the church for code C36 (Maidstone district) on the Kent Registration Services Site http://extranet3.kent.gov.uk/sp/rois/marriagesearch.cfm

Just wanted to thank everyone for this amazing detective work :)
I'm afraid that all my family research has taken a backseat this year... and alas the rand keeps tumbling down so no likelihood of ordering any certificates any time soon.
But thanks again.

I have the original letter written to my great grandfather William Henry Miller from Richard Hearn
Hunton Yalding, March 29 Bank Holiday in England.  It looks like someone has written the letter and Richard has signed his name to it.  He talks about his state of health, how cold it has been and a Jack Turley whom has been helping him etc.... he also asks William if he could get and send some flower and opium seeds and send them in a "segar" box packed up with paper!  The letter is signed off "So no more from your Grandfather and Mother.    I am R HEARN  (very shaky writing)
