Hi Sandy,
I know from the census records that the Henry Freeman who was my GG grandfather was married to an Eliza born in Rushden so I suppose am looking at Eliza Partridge being the most likely candidate. Many thanks.

Hello Linda

So it seems Henry Freeman married Eliza Partridge in Dec 1857 - Northampton RD 3b/202. It'd be good so see the marriage cert to confirm her parents as William & Sophia Partridge who I've found on 1851 census in Duck Street Rushden along with Eliza 1836, Thomas 1841 & Mary ann 1845 all born Rushden. This tallies with the Eliza born 1838 Rushden, wife of Henry Freeman found on 1861 census.

William Partridge b 1806 Higham Ferrers married Sophia Burgess b 1806 Rushden, at Rushden on 5 Apr 1825 according to the Kilsby family tree available on Ancestry. This Kilsby tree also includes members of my Partridge family of Eaton Socon - as yet I havent verified how William & Sophia link to my lot; but if its valid, then we have another contrived link

Best regards John

Good morning John, hope you and yours are all well.

Well of course as soon as I saw the name the first thing I thought of was that we may have a link apart from the Woodhams which we have never confirmed. Looks like I could be Partridge family as well.  :)

I guess the best thing for me to do is to order the marriage certificate for Henry Freeman/ Eliza Partridge and see whats what. I have found it very difficult to match the right Eliza to the right Henry so this would be good to confirm it.

I have been to Rushden once but dont know much about it. Might be time to see if Duck Street is still there.

I have recently got into the family search again, and have been trying to sort out all those little problems that have been difficult to sort out, Henry and Eliza being one of them.

Let me know then if you find the lost Partridge fortune as  I will be wanting my cut if i`m family!! ;)

I will let you know what I find out.

Best wishes, Linda.

It will also give me half a clue as to which Freeman line I am following. Dont know about the Freemans of Higham Ferrers, oh and btw I Googled Duck Street and it looks like it was pretty well raised to the ground in 1958. Wont rush to get that trip to Rushded in then.  ::)

Duck Street is most definitely still there,in fact it is the main road which takes all the traffic through to avoid the High Street.

Use www.streetmap.co.uk and also look up College Street ( I used to work there!,and we always used the Duck Street car park) it also contains the car park for Wilkinsons and a very good old people's home  ;D

Plus a handful of the original houses, but not many.

Thank you Carol, its nice to know, and I expect I saw the demolition pictures only. Looked like they were flattening the whole area but good to know they didnt.

Looking at someone elses research it looks like if he is my Henry then his father was indeed William Partridge born 1805 who married Sophia Burgess 1804 to 1886. There is then a Benjamin and x2 before him called Thomas going back to 1720 but I need to check that all out.

Thank you for all that information John, and a few other names to check out. Not a shock that they are shoemakers.
