Phoebe Bosworth b. 1810
« on: Thursday 25 October 12 13:16 BST (UK) »
According to various censuses Phoebe was born in either Downton or Redlynch, but I've been unable to find any trace.
She married George Harrison in 1827 in Paddington and after that they lived in Millbrook, Southampton.

I have them on all the censuses but I should be very grateful if anyone could find me her birth & parents 8) 8) 8)

1841 says Hampshire so might be worth looking there?  Could be on the cusp as it were.
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Hi there,

Or even on the border Milliepede  ;D
If you look at Genuki for Downton it is only 2 miles from Redlynch and
they both have a Church so either could have been the choice of people
in the area. Also some Hampshire villages are only 5 miles from Downton.
Also I have seen a few census with her on and the place of birth does
change.
On alot of the Trees she is down as being born in 1804 not 1810
and the place is either Downton or Redlynch Wiltshire.
She was 79 when she died in 1883 which would make her birth 1804.

The only Bosworth I could find in the area was later on in 1827.
That was a William whose parents were William and Anne.
They could have still been giving birth from 1804.  Although they
might be related somehow.

Hi
Thankyou both for your suggestions
Yes they are very close to the border I don't  know if the border has even moved over the centuries. But I haven't been able to find her in Hampshire either. As you say Sandymc there don't even seem to be any others around. She was young when she married and stated to be a spinster so it should be her maiden name.
Hopefully someone with acess to the parish records in that area may be able to help, ???

You sould also check out Hale and Breamore, both are a short walk from Downton and Redlynch, the latter whose church I believe was not built until later than the time you are looking at.
