Information on death certificate?
« on: Tuesday 30 October 12 07:37 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I think we all have at least one ancestor where we just hit a brick wall and struggle to get past there!
I've been their for a while and as my ancestor was born and married Pre-1837, and the parish marriage record is an online one which only gives me the date and peoples involved, but I need to find his parentage!
He died in 1853, in Manchester.
What information would be given on the certificate? I already know his rough date of death due to an obituary
Would it help me in my troubles? Or simply give me a more complete picture on one of my ancestors?

Thank you in advance
Joel

Death certificates issued in England & Wales do not include parentage details.

The PR entry of his baptism would seem to be the best bet?
That would include both parent's names.

That's what I've been trying to find
I'm unaware of the parish he was born in
And I've looked at numerous of the online register for parish records and to no avail
I live a fair distance from Manchester, but if my only choice is to go there and search, then I'll have to
If I found the original marriage record aswell, would that give me any more information? As on the transcription it only gave name of the bride and groom, the place and date of the wedding

What does the 1851 census say for place of birth?

There is a new government leaflet ‘Discover your family history’ which  gives further information about researching your family tree. This includes details of the information you’ll find on certificates and what to do if you can’t find a certificate. http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/documents/digitalasset/dg_186584.pdf
