Flood damaged photos
« on: Tuesday 06 November 12 12:03 GMT (UK) »
Someone just told me that they were heartbroken to see damged photos caused by Sandy. There is a charity site that collect these photos and restore them . I have done some for them myself in the past, as has Hippy.  :D
The web site has asked if people can post this messag on their facebook accounts so people who have suffered  know what to do to save their photos.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place but if you have family and/or friends in the damaged areas this may help them.

Thank you Irene.  You beat me to it.  I sent a message to the news station that ran the story to also get the word out to please not toss out those precious photos.  After losing everything else, family memories shouldn't have to be among them.

That's a great resource, Irene - even if you're not in the lee of the storm.  Thanks for posting; I'm going to bookmark it for future reference :)

It is a charity site who visit areas after a disaster and take profeeional pohots of damaged pics and then they are restored to as close as the originals as possible by restorers worldwide.
I hope they can get the funds to get to the areas in the NE that had floods caused by Sandy.

Well there's a family photo album sitting on top of a pile of rubble in Brick Township, NJ.  If I had gas for my car, I'd go get it myself. ;)

This just breaks my heart.

I emailed the news station that ran the story in the hopes that they might retrieve the album and perhaps run with it as a human interest/community service thing.  I know its extreme wishful thinking on my part. But at least they may announce the photo rescue charity.
