I am trying to find out any information concerning the above address or the people who lived there in 1911- according to the Census it was occupied by Francis Joseph Cox and his wife Louisa- Francis was a retired wholesale milk contractor. They had a servant working for them called Caroline Edith Piggott.
Caroline and her sister Phoebe were born in Langley, Berks. Both girls were in service in the Berkshire area in 1901 with different employers.
Caroline' sister Phoebe married in Hampshire in 1907 but in 1918 she and her husband moved to Stuminster Marshall in Dorset where her husband had a new job working for as a stoker for the milk factory (Bailey Gate)- the milk factory built 2 houses for its workers and Phoebe and her husband Willie had one of these houses- and curiously called the house Foxborough!
There are various queries/brick walls here- we have never worked out how Caroline's sister came to move from the Langley area where they were born- to Hampshire to marry in 1907; Phoebe's husband was nothing to do with the milk industry till he took the job in 1918 at Bailey Gate ; Why they called their new home in Dorset 'Foxborough' whilst Phoebe's younger sister Caroline was in service at a house of the same name in Langley!
There is clearly a link here with the house names - and the fact that Caroline's emplyer and Phoebe's husband were in the milk industry- albeit at different ends of the scale!
Any information, no matter how insignificant, in respect of Foxborough, Langley - and Francis Joseph Cox (aged 49 and retired in 1911) would be really appreciated!
