Adobe update - script problems
« on: Wednesday 14 November 12 13:43 GMT (UK) »
I'm getting the same type of problem with updating both Adobe Reader & Adobe Flash Player. I can download the updates (avoiding the option McAfee product) but when I try to run the .exe files to install I get a message

Internet Explorer Script Error
Line 1
Char 12948
Error Object Expected
Code 0
URL : http//127.0.0.1:****/app/_js/adobe.js

The **** is four digit number that varies.

If I say yes to carry on nothing happens & saying no means nothing happens. How do I solve this?

I've uninstalled the Reader & sucessfully installed version 9, but can't go beyond that. I've done loads of searches but haven't found an answer. Can anyone help, please?

Adding - Windows XP fully updated.

Using XP likewise had problems updating both.
I searched uninstall a) flash player then b) Adobe Reader.
I managed after uninstall of each to go to Adobe website to download latest versions of each.

Try doing a manual install using the offline installer. Follow the guide here http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#main-pars_header Note that IE should be closed when doing this.

Thank you both. I've had another go & uninstalled both (including running the unistaller for Flash downloaded from Adobe. I then changed the Internet Options to enable scripts as in peakoverload's link. I downloaded & installed Adobe Reader XI sucessfully, so I'm halfway there. I'm just off to have yet another go with Flash & Shockwave which I think I confused before.

Thanks again.
