Hi

I have found a marriage reference in 1876 Londonderry of a Robert McMaster to a Mary Jane Speers (Hunter.)

I wonder if anyone would enable to find anymore information of the marriage please?

Many thanks

Hi,
Rather strangely I can find the marriage of a Robert McMaster to Mary Speers in Dec 1876 but it took place in Lambeg Church of Ireland, Lisburn District.

Lisburn would tie in better with the family's location in 1901-

Robert's father was Henry McMaster, Mary Speers' / Spears' father  was Alexander.

Hi to all of you :)

Many thanks for looking for me, as you rightly said, I too would have thought the marriage was held in Lisburn as that is where they lived, but the names were just right, apart from the Hunter bit.

The Hunter bit is puzzling though? ???  Does it look like she was married before maybe?

Please could you send me the marriage details, thank you. :)

I believe Robert may have died between 1911 and 1914, is there a possibility his death could be found do you think, probably still in the Lisburn area but maybe coming up under Londonderry too?

Many thanks again to all of you.
Kind regards

Possible death for Robert from the BMD Index.. right area, and close to estimated year of birth based on age on 1901 census:

  Name: Robert McMaster
  Registration district: Lisburn
  Event type: Death
  Quarter and year: Jan-Mar 1914
Age: 65  (est. year of birth 1849)
  Volume: 1 / Page : 548

A death cert would show a bit more detail, such as place, date and cause of death, name of informant etc...

see :  Details included on a Death Cert

Many thanks for that Shane

I'm sure it is him.

Kind regards :)

I have tried sending this twice but it doesn't seem to want to go, so am going to keep trying.

Hi,
As regards the name Hunter, if you got the marriage certificate, or a xeroxed copy from the GRO Roscommon, it would state if she was a widow. Supply them with the following information, Lisburn Registration District, Year 1876, Vol 16 Page 910, so that they do not have to do a search. The cost is 4 Euros but I just put a 5 Euro note in the envelope. My last one took seven days to arrive.
