Hi had a look for some info on this, I see Hugh Osbourne born 1860, Ramelton father Hugh mother Isabel, baptised Ramelton
Presbyterian Church, don't see a marriage record for parents in Donegal
Hugh Osborne is recorded in the Griffith Valuation in 1857 living in the townland of Eighterross, Aghanushin, dosen't appear to have any land so not a farmer
There were 2 Henry Osbornes recorded in the tithe records for Rameton in 1830.
other siblings for Hugh(born 1860):Robert 1851, Margaret 1852, Mary 1853, Catherine 1856, James 1858, George 1862, all baptised Ramelton Presbyterian Church, father Hugh, mother Isabel
As for coming from Scotland, if they were Presbyterian the family could have come across any time since the Plantation in the early 1600's, there was a John Allen Osborne M.D. recorded in the Ramelton area in the 1860's, he was trained in Scotland:
OSBORNE, John A., Milford, Ramelton, co. Donegal— M.D. Glasg. 1855; L.R.C.S. Edin. and L.M. 1855 ; Med. Off. Kilmacrenan and Mil- ford Di«p. Dist. ; Med. Off. Milford Union Workh. Fev. Hosp. and Constab.
Don't know if that has any relevance
Also notice that the Hugh Osbourne born 1860, went on to have a son, William Andrew, born 1897 who served in the Royal Airforce during WW1 and went on to become a respected Engineer in Canada, becoming VP of a large company
Not sure if any of this helps
Joe
