Penhallow
« on: Monday 26 November 12 09:49 GMT (UK) »
I have just found a Penhallow family bible on E-bay which may be of interest to someone looking at that family here is the link.

Post here as the name sounds Cornish!?

The Bible is currently in south Devon. Not my family.

Hi

Nice find, Boy Scout!!!!!!!!  :D

Doing a quick search from the images shown from the Bible on ebay ...I think they lived in Frimley, Surrey. The family is there in 1911.

1901
16 Elm Grove,
Hampshire
Martha Penhallow, head, wife 34 b Frimley Surrey
Louise dau 8
George son 6
Albert son 3
Florence Miller, sister, 19
all b Frimley Surrey

I think the last image is a baptism of Walter and Martha's child in April of 1898.

There are more children in 1911 plus her husband, Walter.

I wonder if we can track down living family members?

There are several family trees on Ancestry ... maybe this should be moved to the Surrey board and changed the title to "Penhallow Bible".

Wish something like this from my family would turn up.

Yes, I have noticed the price was going up, worth watching the last 10 seconds for the big roll up.

I just hope the family cousins can get together and exchange the information that is on there. I considered contacting the people on Ancestry but did want to start too much of a price hike!!

I agree that this post should be on the Surrey board.  ;D

I would kill for a find like this for my family.

I have relented and sent a message to one of the owners of a Penhallow tree on Ancestry, it was Ruskie's enthusiasm that change my mind.

Also I had further look at E-bay and found another bible on there (there are hundreds) which contain personal family papers and photographs. That particular one has only a couple of days to go so it is a bit late to start an enquiry.

Lets hope that family and bible are reunited.

Hi Boy Scout

I also sent a message to an owner of a tree ...I wonder if we sent messages to the same person as there are a few trees.

I just couldn't not let him know  ;D
