Hi Jennifer,
Yes Baptist churches do baptise. This site allows you to search the International Genealogical Index by individual parishes. The Saffron Walden Baileys Lane Particular Church baptisms have been extracted from 1775-1837. Hope this helps  ;) Jan

Thanks for that Janann,
I checked but the baptisms for William Godfrey & Maria Godfrey were not shown. They give their place of birth as Saffron Walden and therer mother Sarah Thurgood was bapt. there and married Samuel Godfrey there.
Are there any other churches I could try in Saffron Walden?
Also what is the difference with a 'Particular' Baptist?
Many thanks for all time taken on my behalf.

Hi Jennifer,

I don't know if I can help but i'm from Saffron Walden. The Baptist Church there is on the high street and i really don't know where Baileys lane is? maybe it's an old name for a street....

I Walden at the moment there are several churches, St Mary's (parish church), the R.C. church - castle street, Methodist (which is quite old) - Castle street/museum street (used to be pudding lane), Baptist (quite old), Pentecostal (new), Gold street chapel which is by the Baptist Church. There is also a United reformed Church. I don't know much about this one. It's on Abbey Lane.

Hope this might be of some help.
