Birth, Marr, Death and possibly 1901 census look-up for Guisborough
« on: Tuesday 31 May 05 19:46 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone

I am trying to track information on Zachariah Swales born I believe circa 1887 Guisborough Yorkshire.  I do not have his parents names but father could possibly be Hannibal?  Zachariah came from a big family but I have no details of siblings.  He married, I believe around 1910/1911 in Guisborough a Fanny Calvert and he too had a large family.  I believe he died about 1940-ish but have no details on this.

If anyone has access to parish records and/or 1901 census, I would be grateful for any of the above information.

Many thanks

Hi Manchester Rambler  -  Many thanks for that information.  Dreadful name isn't it?  Poor soul being lumbered with that !!  At last I have something on Zachariah.  Just hoping someone can come up trumps via parish records.  Thanks again

I think I prefer Zachariah to Hannibal!  Free BMD has a marriage record with Francis Swales and Christiana Stevenson on the same page, Mar qtr 1869: Guisbro'  9d 649.  Also a birth for Zack, Jun qtr 1887: Guisbro'  9d 513.

Not sure if it will work but here's the link: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?viewrecord=1&ti=5538&r=5538&db=uki1881&F11=1881BR_5076206&F0=Yorkshire&F2=Guisbrough&F10=3&F5=Guisbrough&F4=Guisborough

There is a family named Swales living in Stokesley in 1881 who generally claim to have come from South Stockton, they could possibly be related, see the following link: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?viewrecord=1&ti=5538&r=5538&db=uki1881&F11=1881BR_5096626&F0=Yorkshire&F2=Stokesley&F10=7&F5=Stokesley&F4=Stokesley

Hi neilsmum

Zacharia Swales is my great grandad. I'm interested to know who you are/ how you fit into the Swales story!
