Wills and Probate 1946 Llandudno
« on: Tuesday 27 November 12 15:00 GMT (UK) »
I am researching my late Uncle leslie Charles Roots who was killed during WW2 when his Lancaster plane was shot down in a bimbing riad over Scholven in July 1944.
I believe that probate was granted at Llandudno in 1946 but I have no idea how to find these records or any information regarding this - help please!

It wasn't probate that was granted, it was Administration, which means there wasn't a will.

His effects were £284 17sh 3d - to Agnes Ada Roots, his wife.

It states that he died on or before 19 July 1944 on war service.

Just to say that The Principal Probate Registry decamped from London to Llandudno during the war!

A lot of Government offices were moved out of London due to the bombing.

Thank you Daisy Lou- all very sad I guess- Agnes Ada was his mother- my grandmother.
I was rather hoping there might have been a Will to shed some light on a few mysteries but clearly not this time.
Thank you for looking anyway.
