1841 census look up.

Hello roots Chatters,

Can anyone find Rebecca Dymond in the 1841 census please? She was born c1814 in West Cranmore, Somerset. In 1847 she married William Holbrook in West Cranmore. The marriage certificate shows her father to have been Thomas Dymond, Farmer.

They are both on the 1861 census in West Cranmore. Their places of birth are given as West Cranmore.

The name variations and mistrancriptions may be the cause of the faliure to find her. Can anyone help?

Hi Jo,

Have you tried doing your search using just the first initial of her surname with the wildcard character used instead of trying for the full name ?
Another thing I have found, when I looked at the Enumerator's record for a rellie in another county, half of the entries were so faint that even a word could not be read. It was just a collection of pencil marks.

Hello Geoff,

I tried that before I put a post on here. It won't search on the wildcard entry on the surname as there are too many results.

My search to date has found so many variations on the name Dymond, it is very likely under one of these that hasn't come up.

Hi still looking in 1841 for her, but if you do not have the 1851, their are extra children:-

Amelia 5
Henry 2
All born West Cranmore, other than Henry ie no pob shown
Residing at Cranmore
Census Ref HO107/1933/143/16

Their is an Emilia Holbrook aged 15 occ Servant b Bath Somerset in 1861, which could be this birth:-

Thanks but I found him in the 1851. William Holbrook was married previously and the children pre 1847 are very likely to be by his late wife. Mary Holbrook died in 1846 (in child birth?) and he remarried to Rebecca the following year.
