Alfred Thomas Davies
« on: Saturday 01 December 12 16:07 GMT (UK) »
Alfred Thomas Davies, born October  1881, Bangor, Flint.
Birth certificate says, Father Ellis Davies, farm labourer, mother formerly Sarah Ann Bradshaw.  Place of birth for Alfred says Bangor R.S.D

family search has the baptism, but no details of parents.
There is no sign of a marriage between Sarah Ann Bradshaw and Ellis Davies  and of  these three in the later census .

When Alfred married  Charlotte Brown in 1903 he says his father is Ellis Davies.

Any ideas ?

Sarah may have been previously married so won't necessarily have married as Bradshaw.

However - children's birth certs will show her birth surname

Any clues from the 1891 census?

I had thought about that, but can`t find any  that may be her, the only one  I have found married George  Fisher, but they are still around later.

There`s no sign of them at all  until 1911 for Alfred and Charlotte.

Does the birth cert refer to Sarah as Sarah Ann Davies - formerly Bradshaw  giving the impression they were married

YES, it does, but it`s odd the baptism transcript  I found on family search doesn`t seem to have details of parents.  It is also on  parish registers, but I don`t have access to that site, only Anc.

The only marriage that comes anywhere close is a Sarah Ann Bradshaw and given as a "David Davis" in the Whitchurch District of Shropshire in 1877.

I can't find a marriage either, but it does at least seem likely that she was born Sarah Ann Bradshaw.

This is the couple in 1881(with son Albert E(llis) Davies born 1879,Bangor, Flintshire

RG11 2662  50  3

Sarah A is given as born 1856 Hodnet,Cheshire

Hodnet is in the Market Drayton registration district of Shropshire and in Sept 1854 there is the birth of Sarah Ann Bradshaw there.

While an Albert E(born Bangor,Flintshire) can be found in 1891,he is not with parents-perhaps they have died already?
