York marriage look up please c.1836
« on: Wednesday 01 June 05 12:19 BST (UK) »
You could put me out of my misery if you can help with this.  Hannah Blenkinsop b. 1815 in Yarm York and William Timmins (no details).  Ist child was born about 1837, 2nd son William born 1839 and registered in Walmgate York. Am assuming rightly or wrongly that they were married in the York area. Any advice or help greatfully received!

Suzi.....

I have found a marriage for a William Timmins , who married a Hannah Anlock , at St Saviours , York 14th June 1835.......

I am wondering if this could be a mis-transcription , and the name should be Blenkinsop....probably a hard name to spell in those days.......Just a thought

Hi Jeannie
Thanks for your reply,  I found that marriage too, it's almost too much of a coincidence as there aren't many Timmins in that part of the world but is there any way I can prove it's right (or wrong).

Hi Suzi

The only way to check it (I think) is to contact York reference library , who have a copy of Boyds marriage index for York 1539-1837......

Phone 01904 552824/552828
Fax 01904 611025
e-mail reference.library@york.gov.uk
website www.york.gov.uk/libraries....this may give an insight to their services

I think that they are are very helpful , and do not charge , if the search can be made in 20-30 mins....worth a try

They also have the 1841 census on microfiche , and the parish registers for most of York

Hope this is helpful to you
