I live in London and my family originates from Portugal. I can only order certs for birth, death & marriages up to 1911, is there a way of going back further?

Also I seem to be going back on the family tree until 1911 OK but not across, IE how do I find out if siblings were born?

Thank you for replying my grand parents on my mum side are:

Antonio Gomes Ferreira born 27.2.1909 dec'd 13.4.1943
Piedade Jesus Dias Ferreira born 16.4.1904 dec'd 2.8.1989

They were married in 1932

As far as I am aware they married in freguisa de Ourem both were born there. Piedade died in Ourem but Antonio as far I am aware had an accident in Lisboa the result of which I not sure if he died there or was taken home or to another hospital were he past away as a result of his injuries.

www.geneanet.org has 6,973 family trees for Ferreira
but only ONE from Ourem ...but not Freguisa de Ourem
anyway here it is
Ferreira 1669  in Santarem,Ourem ........earliest date ...he has 135 in his tree - but it is very short on dates ....have a look at it - you may see a name you recognise

That leads to http://www.genealogia-pt.com/ which is Associação Portuguesa de Genealogia - the English version of the site seems to be off-line, so looks like you'd be working in Portuguese.

Rootsweb has a Portugal message board, and also Azores and Madeira boards.
