maiden name help
« on: Friday 07 December 12 11:21 GMT (UK) »
Can anybody help with a query?

Margaret Hayes, late leadley formerly I can't read on the cert.

Margaret was born in Whitby in 1831 and married John Hayes in 1868,  she was leadley. On my great grandfathers birth she has a formally name which I can't read.

Any help would be appreciated

Could it be Anderson? There's a marriage in Whitby district DecQ1849 vol 25 p 719, two of the eight people  listed are Isaac Leadley and Margaret Anderson, no guarantee that they married each other  ;)

Or you could scan and post the relevent part of the cert on the Deciphering & Recognition Board.

Margaret's daughter Mary Jane Leadley (with her and John Hayes in 1871) was baptised at Whitby in 1852 on Familysearch). Father's name is Isaac.

I have checked the cert and it is Anderson, thanks very much. I cant fint a birth record for Margaret Anderson however.

Is anybody in a position to help.

I believe her to be born Whitby area 1831 although now not sure, any help tracing her father would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Familysearch has a possible for you:

There's a Margaret Anderson christened on 28/9/1830 at Whitby, father James Anderson, mother Jane.

There are a few other Baptisms to this couple in Whitby, could any off them appear as a witness at her marriages?
