Magic needed for a little soldier. Completed with thanks
« on: Friday 14 December 12 05:44 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

I wonder if you could work your magic on this photo of one of my uncles, taken only months after the family arrived in Melbourne in 1913.

The photo was sent to me by a new found second cousin in the UK and is rather special as we don't have this particular photo.

I recently found the  attached advertisement , so maybe these military outfits for little boys were popular.

Many thanks,
Mardi.

That hat etc looks like a scout uniform!  That was my first thought when I saw the photo!!
The uniform in the picture looks a little different - specially the hat!

Couldn't be a scout could he??

Thank you Maureen for trying.

The photo is rather 'flaky' looking and perhaps it can't be made to look any better, but it was worth a try.

Thank you again.

Mardi.

Hi Wiggy,

I never thought that he may have been a boy scout.

My Grandfather was a professional soldier, 3rd generation Royal Artillery, he resigned in Bombay in 1913 and came from there to Melbourne.

On the back of the photo Grandad has written '29/11/1913 Caulfield nr Melbourne' 'Chip off the old block', so naturally just assumed it was some military suit for little boys.

Thank you for trying Wiggy, wonder why it's such a beast to restore lol

Your "Little Trooper" is most certainly a boy scout
