Lady. Maria Scotter (aka May Scotter) (1857 - 1942)
« on: Friday 14 December 12 14:47 GMT (UK) »

Lady. Maria Scotter (nee Quartley) was born in 1857 in Porlock, Somerset and married (for the second time) to a Stockbroker, Frederick Charles Scotter in 1894 at Westminster Abbey, London

I have lost them both in 1901 (in 1911 he is at his Gentleman's Club in London on the night of the census before he dies about 6 months later)

Can anyone find them in 1901?  They had no children and she only appears as May Scotter on her probate in 1942.

Thanks

Hi,

On the 1902 Electoral Register (City of London) Frederick Charles Scotter is recorded at 75 Lombard Street but place of abode is Dungate Manor, Reigate Heath, Surrey.

Perhaps that may help to locate them?

Unfortunately only the servants are enumerated at Dungate Manor in 1901: see e.g. Margaret Parfitt (22 b Reigate) at RG13/625/36/7.

Perhaps the Scotters were away travelling? If they had gone to the Continent they would not appear on the passenger lists available online.
