Jean Turnbull 1861 Roxburghshire

According to "Ancestry" Jane Eddington is married to William Turnbull, (why she is shewn under her maiden name I don't know). She has a daughter Jean aged 35 and Jane is only 48, Could some one please check the original and see if a mistake has been made in either their relationship, and or, their ages ?

Daughter, Jean,  is down as 25  b. Ednam

PS - women were often known by their maiden name in Scotland. Would you like me to check on a marriage for them   :)

Thanks brevitas, if you could find the marriage that would be great. What I find unusual is that she is shewn as Mrs Turnbull in every other census.

I know what you say about women in Scotland keeping their married names, both my late aunts have their maiden names on their headstones, followed by "wife of ********"

Hi

I don't see a marriage as yet but daughter Agnes's birth cert of 1855 gives a marriage in 1833, Coldstream. Agnes was Jane's 11th child. They had had 2 boys and 7 girls living, 1 boy deceased.

If you send me your e-mail by personal message (PM), I can send you the cert.

Must go off to do some seasonal shopping now  ::) :-X

brevitas
