my gradfathers aunt margaret mcdonnell was born in dromiskin co louth, ireland in 1895. she later emigrated to the usa along with her sister rose.

margaret apparently married a new york policeman francis claire. however i can find no record of this anywhere.

Do you know when the marriage might have occurred or when she emigrated?

I see an entry on the 1930 Census of a Margaret McDonell of the right age who was living in Manhattan with her sister & brother-in-law Rose & James Nannery.  It says Margaret & Rose were hotel chambermaids and immigrated 1927 and 1926 respectively.  Could that be them?

I see Rose & James Nannery in the 1940 Census with Margaret Lonsdale and her husband Thomas, an elevator operator, and their daughter, so maybe that's the wrong Margaret & Rose.

Edited:  A passenger list also shows this Margaret & Rose as being born Co. Longford, so looks like I was barking up the wrong tree.
