One I find it hard to put on

Dad was born 27th Jan 1922 in Egham, third child of a baker.

He was in the RAF in the war as a wireless operator, but was invalided out after a couple of years after an infection.
HE worked his whole career for BAT as a buyer then in marketing.
However his passion was in gardening. He won many prizes at horticultural shows.
On retiring, he took on three allotments. His knowledge as well as his produce was shared freely.
He had a gift of enthusing others.

He also worked for the residents association at this time and social events were a great success.

As old age progress, the allotments were given up and eventually had a gardener to help him. The last gardener said it was a privilege to work for someone who loved his garden so much.

As a family man he was a strong leader. His strength showed in his last year, he remained mentally strong through cancer and the infections and remained realistic about his chances.

Dad died on 18th December 2013.
Mum is still around so I have left out his name.
They were married for over 65 years.

RIP Dad

January 30th 1902 my great grandfather Alfred James died.  Born in Keynsham,  Somerset about 1829 he married Elizabeth Heale in 1851 and they arrived in Victoria, Australia on the Joshua in January 1852.  They went straight to the goldfields around Ballarat and stayed in the area until the late 1880's when they moved to Fitzroy, Victoria, where he died.  He fathered eleven children, seven of whom lived to adulthood.
James -Victoria, Australia originally from Keynsham, Somerset.
Janes - Keynsham and Bristol area.
Heale/Hale - Keynsham, Somerset
Vincent - Illogan/Redruth, Cornwall.  Moved to Sculcoates, Yorkshire; Grass Valley, California; Timaru, New Zealand and Victoria, Australia.
Williams somewhere in Wales - he kept moving
Ellis - Anglesey

Your father had a wonderful life and you have wonderful memories  :)
Reading your post caused me to pause and reflect on my own father who died around the same time as your Dad but in 2002. My Mum still misses him dreadfully, as do I.
Kind Regards,
Looby :)

Hi

Yes there is one for every month of the year, it doesn't matter about the year as it is the months we were interested in.

Here is the August one  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=655749.81
