In 1938 Herbert John ASHBY, baker, and Fanny Amelia ASHBY are still at the Balmoral Road address, as are Daniel Benjamin ASHBY and Herbert John ASHBY the chemist.

In 1946 Fanny Amelia is the only one at that address.....goes along with the 1939 death so it may well be worth you getting the cert, Emma, unless we can find a newspaper notice.

Added...Fanny Amelia Ashby's last entry is 1949 - same address and only Ashby listed at that address.

Some ER snippetts......

Maud Lydia ASHBY, retired, was at 78 Wardell Rd, Lewisham, NSW in 1933.

Ruth Daisy ASHBY, home duties,  Crescent St, Haberfield, NSW in 1930, 1933, 1936, & 1937, but at differing house numbers. In 1943 she's moved to 2 Barton Ave, Haberfield. She's there in 194, but in 1958 she's at 79 Corunna Rd, Stanmore North, NSW.

Edward George ASHBY, useful (?) was at 206 Victoria Street, Darlinghurst, NSW in 1930. In 1933 he's George Edward ASHBY at 254 Victoria Street, Darlinghurst. I'm sure it's the same person because again his occupation is given as "useful". 
After that I'm not sure which one is him in the ERs.

Ashby & Sons, Pastry Cooks, was a business registered at 207 George Street, West Sydney, on 30th June 1903.
Person listed as carrying on the business was Lydia ASHBY.
