Little Totham Baptism
« on: Monday 14 January 13 15:29 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the baptism of Emma Elizabeth Smith b1883 in Little Totham Essex. Supposedly she is my paternal Grandmother's sister. I cannot find any record of her apart from the 1911 census where she is living in Broseley Shropshire with her husband John James Griffiths and her 4 children. On the census it states that she has been married for 6 years but I cannot find any record of this. Her parents are William and Emma Ann Smith.
Can anybody help please.

I couldn't find anything in the Lt. Totham registers and unfortunately Gt. Totham at that time doesn't seem to be available.
I have found the eldest two childrens baptisms in Wickford, I can post those if you haven't got them.

Found this marriage.

John James Griffiths
ELLEN Elizabeth Smith
1905

Newport,Monmouthshire

You say Emma, 1911 says Ellen??

Thank you so much for your research. I wasn't aware that Ellen and James married in Newport, Monmouthshire. You were correct in stating the name is Ellen and not Emma as I had previously written - Emma was Ellen's mother. I would be very grateful if you could provide me with the two bapstisms. I have now found a birth registration in the district of Lexden for Ellen Elizabeth E. which area covers Inworth. Inworth was where Ellen's father was living in the 1891 Census (but Ellen was not listed there at the time). I will be purchasing the birth and marriage certificates shortly and if you would like to know the outcome please let me know.
Once again, thank you very much for your help.

Ellens father was living in Inworth on the 1881 census not the 1891 census as I have just written.

The only other place that I think she may have been baptised is Runwell where the family was living in 1891
