Mr Kirtland isn't given an initial in the report is he? In contrast to those either side of him in the list, namely E. Herbert and S. Neal.

I am not sure. I had some difficuty in deciding who was who. ???
Upon looking again, I think you are probably right.

What could be infered (or implied) by the lack of a initial?

That he was the only shareholder named Kirtland and so there was no need for any initials to distinguish him from any other Mr Kirtland.

I agree, no initial for Kirtland

I wonder if he is Thomas, the greengrocer, RG 12 1012 115 2

He,s about the only Kirtland I can see in that area in 1891 (+ his teenage sons)

I don't think there is any significance of lack of initial, several of the people on the list don't have initials, do they.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

This could be a bit of a breakthrough for me.

I was aware that there was a William K who was probably senior to Thomas, (Father) who at one stage of his career was a cabman. Could you please post more info on William, I am not able to use refs supplied. Is he somehow inked to earlier generations of Kirtland's fro Charlton on Ottmoor?

I've no personal knowledge of his ancestry or that of any other Kirtlands, I'm afraid :)
