The only Irene Bobby I can see in 1901 was bn 1885 Liverpool, daughter of James and Flora

Someone has suggested to Ancestry that it should  read 1889, but looking at the image, although generally the image is not particularly clear, her age is clearly written as 16

As you are wanting lots of census look ups, it would be worth you going go your local library, as libraries have ancestry access. Just a thought for you to consider. Then you can browse censuses to our hearts content!

I agree that the image is very faded, but there's something written underneath the "16" which might be "mo[nths]"?  That would correspond with this birth:

Births Dec 1899
BIBBY  Irene May
W. Derby 8b 309

Have you checked freebmd first to confirm the info found on Family Search?

You presumably have some details of the Irene Bibby you are researching - birthyear/birthplace parents etc ?

I think the "Iren" born in Padgate is actually Iva:

Iva Winifred BIBBY, dau of William BIBBY and Annie, baptised 6 March 1898, Padgate.  (FamilySearch)

(On the 1901 census, her family is listed in the household of William's cousin Samuel.)

Just looked again at the image. Yes, there is a squiggle under the 16 isn't there? Maybe it is intended to say months. There is a child a few lines up from Irene who is 8 months, and whilst that is clearer, the general shape of Irenes squiggle is similar!
And the birth index findings back it up

Manchester Rambler.
Nice one. Thanks. I believe you are right about Iren being Iva.
And James and Flora May were married in 1898 in Liverpool so that's both of them found. Thanks
I walk with the High Peak Rangers. Who do you walk with?

Liz.
I do use my local library occasionally but I am trying to speed things up. I have so little time and so much to do.  :D
