Hi

Is there any person from the Forest Town, Mansfield area of Nottingham who may be able to shed some light on the above named. he is buried in St Alban extended church, Forest Town and the following is part of a transcription off his headstone and a seperate memorial on the same grave

Oscar Henry Alexander, who died 5th June 1944 aged 60.

Separate memorial, A token of respect to Oscar Alexander
from the Wardens and Fire Guards of Forest Town

My question is, was he a Warden or Fire Guard. If he is a member I then will be able to upload the image and details onto Military Images

Regards
Alf

Can't help with your question - but there is a little bit of background information
According to census etc he was born Pinxton Derbys - parents Richard (b. Warwicks) and mary A (b Pinxton). He had several siblings - his occupation was Coal Miner. He married Bertha from Hucknall Notts and had at least 3 daughters (Olga, Cissy and Dorothy)

Suz
Thornhill, Cresswell, Sisson, Harriman, Cripps, Eyre, Walter, Marson, Battison, Holmes, Bailey, Hardman, Fairhurst Noon-mainly in Derbys/Notts-but also Northampton, Oxford, Leics, Lancs-England
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk
