I am trying to get information, please, on Susanna(h) King (maiden name unknown) married to Joseph King (b. 1767 Dorchester on Thames).  The marriage may possibly have taken place in Marsh Baldon.  As their first child was born in 7 November 1802, presumably they were married before that date.

I would be especially interested in knowing Susanna's maiden name and the date of the marriage, if this were possible.

Joseph's parents were Joseph and Lewis (Lois?  Louise? - difficulty in transcription) King.  Anything that would clarify Lewis's name and give their dates would be welcome too.

The King family lived in Dorchester on Thames

I have looked in my copy of the transcriptions for both Marsh Baldon (*) & Toot Baldon(*) and failed to find any marriage for Joseph King to Susanna(h).
In looking at other PRs around the area I did find a burial and marriage  as follows;
Dorchester (*);
Burial; 10-11-1832 Susanna King - by Coroner's Warrant. (D;   64) - not sure what these last two entries mean but presume 64 was her age)
Marriage;
24-9-1833 Joseph King to Mary Richings, Watlington, Oxon
wits; Wm. Goodenough, Mary E......1
Wm. Cobb, clerk

I did see Joseph's baptism in 1767 which you already have but again couldn't see the marriage for his
parents Joseph & Lewis(lois)
(*) from the CDs issued by the Oxford FHS.

I'm afraid there's no record of either of those marriages (Joseph snr. to "Lewis" or Joseph jnr. to Susannah) on the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837).

However, both Dorchester and Marsh Baldon are very close to the old Oxfordshire/Berkshire borders.  Those parishes that were originally in Berkshire - but were transferred to Oxfordshire in the 1970s - are included in a separate "North Berkshire" marriage index.  For a (very small) fee, the OFHS will do look ups of this index - see "Search Services" on their website at www.ofhs.org.uk.

Re Susanna, I have been able to pin down a little more about the coronor's involvement.  It was reported in the local newspaper on 10 Nov. 1832.  She was found dead in bed and the verdict was 'a visitation of God'.  Nothing sinister, which is actually a relief.
