It's always worth researching the photographers of your family photos, for more background info of where and when the picture was taken.

Always Google the name of the photographer as there may be quite a bit about them. And contact people who have these websites, and do the same if you find somebody with the photographer in their family tree. Often these people may have some information about the photographer which you will be interested in, and they may be interested in seeing a scan of the photograph(s) you have.
