Jarvis Family of Rye
« on: Thursday 07 February 13 10:18 GMT (UK) »
I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction to find resources on-line.
I have William Jarvis b 1772/3 in Rye, Bap 21/3/1773 Rye, Father John mother Sussanna, I can find siblings of Hannah 1775 and Thomas 1777.  William married Philadelphia Bailey and they had 10 children, most seem to be Bap at St Nicholas in Worth Sussex.  I would like to know if John and Sussanna had any other children apert from these 3 and details of John and Sussanna.  Later the grandchildren seem to work with horses either dealers or grooms, does this suggest that they were possibly travellers.

Hello

Welcome to Rootschat :)

From the Sussex Marriage Index, the only marriage i could find between a John Jarvis & Susanna in the right time frame took place at Salehurst,East Sussex

21 April 1772
John Jarvis & Susanna Kettle
They Married by Banns
Witnesses Jn Olive & Edw Merrit

It appears the Children you named were Baptised at Salehurst
William,21 Mar 1773
Hannah 7 May 1775
Thomas 14 Sept 1777

Sussex Family History Group give Members online access to Baptism & Burials.

Hope this helps
