« on: Friday 08 February 13 22:28 GMT (UK) »
Born 24th sep 1876, dundalk

He is my great grandfather on my maternal side.

I believe his father to be john campbell and mother sarah ann lucas

That's as far as I have.

Any help would be appreciated I have limited info as my mum and gran have now passed away.

Thanks

Familysearch 'Births and Baptisms 1620-1881' shows John Colin Campbell b.1876 but also 3 siblings all born in Ravensdale, Louth:- Mary Jane b.1874, Sarah Anne b.1875, and unnamed male b.1878.

The PRONI website has a wills index entry for the following potential candidate:

Full Abstract :
Letters of Administration of the personal estate of John Campbell late of Shamble-lane Dundalk County Louth Pensioner who died 6 August 1889 at same place were granted at Armagh to Sarah Anne Campbell of Ravensdale County Louth the Widow.

It's not digitised online, so you would need to order the will if you felt it worth the gamble...

For any wills I've ordered in the past I've simply used the PRONI search service by emailing them a screenshot of the will index entry, whereupon they reply with a cost... see under "The PRONI search service is a chargeable service, offered under the Freedom of Information Act in response to written enquiries only.  To request a search, you can contact us by e-mail, letter or fax or complete a PRONI Enquiry Form online." in the attached link:

http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/research_and_records_held/can_someone_else_do_research_for_me.htm

Edited to add: the last time I requested a will (last autumn) there was a search fee of £15.50 and £0.44 for postage, so it's quite a steep gamble. BTW, I also wondered at the reference to John being a 'pensioner' - sometimes for this era it can suggest a military / police background... but you might want to wait and see if anyone posts anything else before you commit...
